Terms of Service
These terms govern your access to and use of the Beyond Engineering Center of Excellence (BECE) platform, including the website, the ZidiHub learning environment, Engineering Tracks, the community, and any related services.

1. Acceptance of these terms
By creating an account, joining a cohort, or otherwise using BECE, you agree to these Terms of Service and to our Privacy Policy. If you are using BECE on behalf of an organisation, you confirm that you are authorised to accept these terms for that organisation.
2. Who we are
BECE is an engineering learning movement that connects African engineers and the diaspora through structured Engineering Tracks, mentor-led cohorts, live sessions, and a shared community. We may update, add, or retire features as the platform evolves.
3. Eligibility and your account
You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide, for keeping your login credentials secure, and for all activity that happens under your account. Let us know promptly if you suspect any unauthorised use.
4. Memberships, billing and cancellation
- Some features are free; others require a paid membership. The price, billing period, and what each plan includes are shown at the point of purchase.
- Paid memberships renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel beforehand. You can cancel at any time, and your access continues until the end of the period you have already paid for.
- We accept mobile money and card payments. Taxes and payment-processor fees may apply depending on your location and method.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Share, resell, or sublicense your account or course access;
- Copy, scrape, or redistribute Track materials, recordings, or assessments outside the platform;
- Harass, impersonate, or harm other members, mentors, or staff;
- Attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorised access to the platform or its security features.
6. Engineering Tracks, milestones and certifications
Tracks are structured, multi-month programmes made up of milestones and live sessions. Certifications are awarded on genuine completion of the required work. Certifications recognise participation and demonstrated skill on the platform; they are not a professional licence or a guarantee of employment.
7. Intellectual property
BECE and its licensors own the platform, brand, Track curricula, and learning materials. We grant you a personal, non-transferable licence to access these materials for your own learning while your account is in good standing.
8. Your content and portfolio
You keep ownership of the work, submissions, and portfolio you create on BECE. You grant us a limited licence to host, display, and process your content so we can operate the platform, enable mentor reviews, and — where you choose to make it public — show it to the community.
9. Mentors and community conduct
Mentors are practising engineers who volunteer or are engaged to guide cohorts. Their guidance is offered in good faith and does not constitute formal professional or engineering advice for any specific real-world project. Treat every member of the community with respect.
10. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
BECE is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.
11. Termination
You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if these terms are breached or if required to protect the platform or its members. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (such as intellectual property and liability) will continue to apply.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the platform changes. When we make material changes, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you. Continuing to use BECE after an update means you accept the revised terms.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Kenya, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Nothing here removes any rights you have under the mandatory laws of your own country of residence.
